Tube Stomach Surgery
It provides a balanced and satisfactory weight loss by reducing the stomach capacity by 75-80% on the vertical axis, providing satiety despite very little food consumption in the postoperative period, and reducing the levels of the Ghrelin hormone, which causes the feeling of hunger, by approximately 85-90% with the operation. It is known as sleeve gastrectomy, as the stomach takes on the appearance of a tube after the operation. It is in demand due to the fact that there is no obligation to use vitamins and minerals for life after the surgery, the chance of endoscopy is not lost, and the chance of reaching the ideal weight is extremely high.
To whom does it apply?
It is applied to patients with a body mass index of 35 and above, co-morbidities such as diabetes and hypertension, or to patients with a body mass index of 40 and above.
How is it applied?
It is applied by laparoscopic method (closed surgery) under general anesthesia. It is based on the principle of removing 4 out of 5 of the stomach with a surgical device called a staplaer.
Length of stay in hospital
After the operation, 2 to 3 hospitalizations are required.
What are the problems that may occur after the surgery?
Although it is very little, there is leakage between the sutures in the bleeding, infection and gastric reduction line. Apart from these, there may be pulmonary and cardiac complaints related to anesthesia or depending on the weight of the patient. Pulmonary embolism is one of these problems. In order to prevent it, this problem is prevented by making varicose stockings and blood thinner injections and providing early mobilization to our patients.
